American Roaches
Biology
The female American roach can lay 8 to 12 egg sacks in her life time. Each egg sack can have as many as 12 to 18 eggs. She will lay these eggs in areas close to water and food so that as they hatch the nymphs (Baby Roaches) will not have to go far for a meal. These egg sacks are laid in cracks and crevices or attached to things. The adult roaches can live from 200 to 425 days, with the female living longer than the male.

Habits
The American roach is more of an out door roach that likes damp areas. It is not uncommon to see them inside but you are more likely to see them under decks, in storage containers, shops, sewers, attics, dumps, grocery stores, restaurants, basements, and apartment complexes. They feed mainly on decaying or fermenting food.
