Habits

The Oriental Roach is not so much of a household insect invader, as it is a commercial invader. Restaurants, hospitals, commercial warehouses, commercial apartments, commercial office complexes, grocery stores, sewers, basements, crawl spaces, drains, college buildings, city buildings, and athletic complexes are all common places to find the Oriental roaches.

The Oriental roach can be found outside in debris, compose piles, under wood decks, storage buildings, and around ground cover. They feed mainly on outside materials such as decaying organic matter, starchy foods, and some human foods left in trash cans and dumpsters.

Control

Sanitation is still the best defense against all roaches. Clean, clean, clean, and clean with water and detergent or soap. Keeping things picked up around the home/structure, removing all water and food sources, and cleaning will cut down the chances of a bad Oriental roach infestation. Remove all cardboard boxes, paper bags, cartons, and other paper items that roaches like to hide and nest in.

Chalking all cracks and crevices around the home/structure, removing firewood, debris, and stored items around the structure will help eliminate harborages and nesting sights.

At RP Lee Termite & Pest Control we will do a thorough inspection to determine the extent of the infestation. After identifying the insects we will provide several options in control and treatment. RP Lee’s Precise Pesticide Applications, Organic Pest Control, Baiting Options, or our Green Pest Control can be used in the control and treatment.
