Mice & Rodent Treatment Options

Glue Boards
Glue boards are designed to catch mice and rodents when you set them in their path. The glue boards are put in mice/rodent walk ways or areas where mice/rodents are traveling to and from food, water, or harboring areas. Identification is very important, as rodents can be caught on the larger glue boards but, they tend to get off the smaller glue boards. Mice will sometimes avoid the larger glue boards. So identification is very important. To increase the chance of catching mice/rodents you may want to add seeds, nuts, etc. to the boards to attract them.
Glue boards do have disadvantages: The mice/rodent must be discarded when caught. They need to be checked daily. The glue boards can catch cats, dogs, children, and other things that you don’t want stuck on them. (See Glue traps how to deal with the glue). Overall they are a very effective way to catch mice/rodents as well as other insects around the home.

Traps
Enclosed traps can also be used to trap mice/rodents. These are safer to use and usually catch only intended mice/rodents that are being a problem. These too are set in the path that the mice/rodents are traveling. The only disadvantage is that they to must be checked daily and anything caught must be discarded or let go somewhere away from the home.

Child Proof Bait Stations-Poisons
The Child Proof Bait Stations are very effective in killing mice/rodents. These stations can be installed around homes, commercial buildings, garages, attics, and food establishments. The Child Proof Bait Stations do have poisons in them that are designed to kill mice/rodents upon one or more feedings. The biggest disadvantage of using the poisons is that mice/rodents may die in the home, attic, or around the home. If they die in the home there may be a bad odor for a week or two if it can’t be found and removed.

Snap Traps
Snap traps are very effective. These have been used for years with great results. You can add any kind of bait to the trap to attract mice/rodents, peanut butter, cheese, nuts, crackers, and dog food are some examples. The only disadvantage to some people is the sight of the dead mouse/rodent on the trap. As part of our mice and rodent service we will take care of it for you. We try to set up five day follow ups on all our mice/rodent treatments to replace traps, bait, and to discard any dead that may have been caught or trapped.
